In the late 1930s the Pan American Clippers were the ultimate in international air travel. Their in-flight service was at a level that would be impossible to duplicate today and very first flight was a major media event. They were the Concorde's of their day. This artist's rendition of the Martin M-130 China Clipper over the Golden Gate is framed with a San Francisco - Hong Kong First Flight cover actually carried aboard the aircraft in 1937.
