Charles Lindbergh and Basil Rowe

Price: $190.00
S&H: $ 25.00
Total: $215.00

Hiring Charles Lindbergh to be Pan American's technical advisor was one of the smartest moves Juan Trippe, Pan Am's founder, ever made. Lindbergh's Central and South American goodwill tour in 1928 had made him a hero there as well as at home. Trippe was astute enough to realize that being associated with Lindbergh would give his airline instant credibility throughout Mexico and Central and South America. Since Pan American was about to enter these markets, anything that could make that entry easier was an asset. What better way to garner both publicity and goodwill for the Company than for the Inaugural flights over the newly-awarded air mail routes be made by the most famous airman in the world?

Between September, 1928 and September, 1929 Lindbergh piloted the inaugural   flights of numerous new routes - the best publicized being FAM-5 on February 4, 1929 from Miami to Cristobal, Canal Zone and return.

Two photos of Charles A. Lindbergh, one with Basil L. Rowe from their Caribbean Mail flights. Captain Rowe was the founder of West Indian Aerial Express and went on to become one of Pan American's best known Chief Pilots. Framed with San Juan - Paramaribo First Flight cover.
